I said no such thing. What I said was:

| The RS used the stock clutch & brake pedal but had a left footrest (as shown above) and a matching accelerator pedal with a dimpled finish (to match the foot-rest) and an extended flange on the lower left to make heel-toe changes a little easier. |

A footrest (preferably one to suit high heels ) would be an awesome addition. I never quite know where to rest my left foot and as mine is a Hondamatic it has no work to do
Hey Jim is your Civic on the road? I'm always looking out for other Civics in Sydney. All I've been able to spot so far is an Orange one getting around Eastwood a couple of times. Ive seen it a few times now and I generally embarrass myself jumping up and down in the car trying to get a closer look at it across 4 lanes of traffic as it always seems to be going in the opposite direction! |

Jim,
Continuing this discussion, here is a pic of the foot rest (and accel pedal) installed.
I didn't get the factory mounting brackets with mine so had to fabricate my own, but the correct mounting location becomes fairly self evident when you place it on the tunnel.
In terms of location and comfort, I have found it as good as any standard equipment left foot rest in various cars I've had over the years and arguably better than some. Bearing in mind that the Civic pedals are offset anyway...
Hope this helps
cheers

Further to the above, it appears that there are no factory brackets - at least not as a bolt-on part.
Studying the parts book, it seems that the mounting points may have been (spot) welded into the genuine RS shells, however the panels that form the floor and transmission tunnel don't appear in my book as listed parts.
It could be that the factory felt that if your shell was so badly damaged that the floor and trans tunnel was deformed, then you were up for a new car (or at least a new shell) anyway.
Most other body panels/parts are listed.

proof that your steering wheels are on the wrong side of the car
We have built in foot rests on our cars....the hump from the wheel well |

I considered moving the steering wheel and pedals to the left hand side, but found the space already occupied by a navigator who objected to being asked to navigate and drive at the same time...

Mike
thanks for that photo it gives a nice close up of the attachment. As I said I'll be in Japan in May and will be given the foot rest. What comes with it I don't know until then. Anyway I'll ask over there their fitting procedure.
