I light cut polish will do the trick. Peter restored his lens this way and got good results. I think he's got before and after pictures floating around somewhere. |

I used wax too.
Best bet is to clean the lens real good especially the insides, it really brings back the colour. I used a real fine steel wool for ther plastic chrome and even used some poly strip to remove the grey haze that honda used in the center of the chrome. Just don't get the stuff on the lens or it etches it. The wax works well on the lens as it fills in the fine scraches and scuffs.
Some pics of my lights are on my website. Page 2 I believe. |

I used Brasso!
It's a metal polish, brought the fog light lens up all bristol fashion! The years of exhaust grime & cat poo just fell away! I used it on the indicators and the bumper light clusters too. I'll use it on the brake lights when I get round to them. |

This will sound crazy, but before you condemn it as nuts, try this.
It was shown to me by my secretary in 1984, she picked it up as a cleaning tip from her automotive maintenance course lecturer.
Do not use any grade of wire wool until you have tried this. It removes rust off chromed finishes, whether on plastic or steel, beautifully around Honda bumper bolts.
READY?
Take aluminum cooking foil, scrunch it into a ball or pad, whichever shape will work best, and simply rub over the affected area. It really does work, and leaves NO SCRATCHES ON CHROME. It is best to have the dull side on the outside, used with chrome polish , it really puts on a fine finish. The reason that it works is that aluminum is harder than the rust deposits and soscratches it off, but it is softer than the chrome so it wears out instead of scratching.
On glass or plastic lenses etc. nip in the kitchen, only when it's vacant, and wash them using washing up liquid and a soft cloth. REMEMBER the kitchen must be unattended by others, otherwise they realise that you know where the sink, wash-up liquid, rubber gloves and dishcloths are and will insist that you need more practice before your lights can be next done.
Seriously though, only put glass components in a dishwasher, plastic ones are likely to warp as water temp. is so high it will distort the plastic. |

| I've heard mag wheel polish works real well on yellowed plastic headlights, would probably work well on taillights too. Probably similar to Brasso. |
