|
|
| i have an 82 civic hatch and wanting to drop it. ive looked almost everwhere for lowering springs. found some BG lowering spring but it comes up to $200 shipped. so my question is...is 1.5" drop worth $200? is there any alternatives. ive looked into heating the stock springs and cutting. any info would help. thanks. |

| If its just the springs you need, there are tons of manufacturers that make springs in almost any size you could ask for. $200 doesn't seem bad at all for a full set. |

Try looking at the 2003 PT Cruiser's rear spring.
PT's od. 130 mm
2nd gen. 132 mm
I couldn't get a good installed hieght measurement but it was about 10" that's 2" lower than a 2nd gen. Don't bother with the fronts of the PT, their larger.
Havin't found a wrecked PT yet, so these measurement need to be double checked. |

the springs may be of similar (desirable) dimension, but the PT Cruiser has a curb weight of ~3,100 lbs. vs. the 2g civic of about 1,900 lbs.
That might cause some issues, i.e. the civic might actually ride higher on springs designed for such a heavy car as well as they might be extremely stiff.
I'm not 100% sure about that, but it seems it's worth noting. |

I think it could work, the weight of the PT is all in the front. The springs I mentioned is in the rear.
$200 bucks for springs really ain't that bad. In another post someone actually purchased a set and said he like it. |
